From what age can the Squeezee Pouches be used?

The Department of Health currently recommends slowly introducing solid foods when your baby is about six months old. You and your doctor may, however, think it is good to start as early as 4 months based on your baby’s needs. Always check with your doctor before introducing solid food to your baby.

Which foods can be stored in the Squeezee Pouches?

All food and liquid can be stored in the pouches. However, it is not recommended to feed babies eggs, cow’s milk, citrus fruits, tomatoes and juices, and honey until after a baby’s first birthday.

Eggs (especially the whites) may cause an allergic reaction, especially if given too early. Citrus is highly acidic and can cause painful rashes for a baby. Honey may cause botulism in babies. Cow’s milk does not have the nutrition that infants need.

Otherwise Squeezee Pouches can be used for all meals and snacks including the family meal. Just pop in the jug, meat, veg and potatoes and some vegetable stock, milk or juice and blitz using a hand blender or hand mash using the plunger. Also ideal for the older child who likes fruity smoothies or fruit purees. The options are endless!  In a rush with the school run, prepare some warm fruity porridge and fill in the Squeezee pouches, by the time they arrive at school they would have eaten a hearty warm breakfast.

Where can Fill n Squeeze pouches travel?

The pouches are easy to fill and take with you wherever you go

from playdates, toddler groups, school lunch boxes and on a plane. Make sure the pouches are filled to 100ml or less.

For homemade baby food, Squeezee pouches mean no more frozen cubes or fussing around with freezer trays, no extra bowls and spoons, and no breakable jars. They can go straight from filling, to the freezer, to your bag, to your child’s hand (and mouth) with no fuss (and less mess!).

How do I clean my pouch filler?

Before using your Pouch Filler for the first time, clean it in a dishwasher (top rack only) or in warm water using liquid detergent. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not clean your pouch filler or allow it to come into contact with solvents or other harsh chemicals as damage may result. Do not sterilise the jug and plunger, only the silicone cap and jug cap can be sterilised via steam or microwave.

Can the pouches be reused?

You can reuse the pouches by washing in hot water. Please ensure that all the corners are properly clean and that the pouch is thoroughly washed out. The side windows and the base of the pouch are clear to assess cleanliness of the pouch. To help dry the pouch, pour hot water into the pouch (hold the side of the pouch to prevent scalding), swirl around and then turn the pouch upside down. This helps to open up the pouch and speeds up the drying time of the pouch inside. To make the pouch sterile, we recommend cold water sterilisation such as Milton.

How do I wash my reusable pouches?

Here’s a great process to wash and dry your squeezee pouches when they have been washed:

  1. Wash out your pouch with hot soapy water and rinse until water runs clear
  2. Attach your pouch on the end of the clean pouch filling jug
  3. Pour hot water from the kettle (please allow to cool down once boiled for 5 minutes to prevent scalding) into the jug and allow the water to pour into the pouch. Make sure that at least 3/4 of the pouch is full with hot water.
  4. Remove the pouch filled with hot water from the jug and leave in pouch for a couple of minutes to clean.
  5. Pour out hot water and turn pouch upside down to dry.
  6. When using the pouch again, ensure its flat i.e. all the air has been removed.
Can lumpy food pass through the nozzle and into the pouch?

When using lumpier weaning food, please ensure you use the supplied masher which has been carefully designed with the correct hole sizes to make sure the food is sufficiently mashed to go easily into the pouches. If the lumps are too big then this will stop the plunger going down.

What if the plunger won't go down?

This means your puree is likely too thick and needs to have some additional liquid to help it glide down in the jug

Are the lump sizes bigger than the jug nozzle hole? if yes, then this has probably blocked the hole. To fix this remove the plunger and mash the puree with the masher provided or remove the pouch and insert a clean straw into jug nozzle to move the blockage.

Can I fill my pouch with hot foods?

Yes, the pouch can be filled with hot foods, although very hot or boiling foods should be avoided. The full pouch should be left to cool before putting in the freezer.

If full pouch food is intended for immediate consumption, always check food temperature before feeding baby.

Have the Fill n Squeeze products been tested?

Yes. Fill n Squeeze prides itself in being all British. Both the Squeezee Pouch and Pouch Filler have been rigorously tested for chemical migrations. Both items have passed the UK standards of food regulation testing’s and are produced in British factories that have been accredited the highest food grade certification. All the materials have gone through stringent testing in the UK, are food safe and comply with EU, BS, FDA and International Food Safety Standards.

Are the Squeezee Pouches and packaging recyclable?

While the pouch material isn’t currently recyclable they can be reused via recycling companies.  The Squeezee pouches have a better overall environmental rating than glass and jar alternatives as they take less energy and fewer materials to make and produce less air pollution than glass, tetra pak or PET plastic bottles.

Did we mention significantly lesser percentage of packaging waste? Pouches are lighter and more compact, making them easily transportable. That way they even cause fewer emissions for the same volume.  The starter pack outerbox is recyclable

We believe strongly in the health, safety and overall environmental advantages of the Squeezee pouch and are committed to continuing working with suppliers to find even greener, more innovative and recyclable alternatives.

What is BPA?

BPA, or Bisphenol A, is one of the 50 most-produced chemicals in the world. It is a synthetic compound used in the manufacture of a lot of household articles including food containers and cans, plastic bottles, polycarbonate feeding bottles and soothers etc. It has been classed as a hormone disruptor. Plastics such as polypropylene, glass or silicone do not contain any BPA and the whole Fill n Squeeze range is BPA free. Infact, they are also PVC-free, Lead-free & Phthalate-free.

What are phthalates?

Phthalates are substances added to plastics to increase their flexibility, transparency, durability and longevity. They are used primarily to soften polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Phthalates are being phased out of many products in the European Union over health concerns.

How can I heat up the pouches?

You can place the squeezee pouches in a microwave for 20 seconds to heat up. Please ensure you have removed the cap of the pouch before placing in the microwave. Also, ensure that you massage the pouch to distribute any heat spots. Alternatively, you can heat up your pouches in a bowl of hot water.

Or, you can squeeze your yummy baby food into a microwavable bowl and heat it up in the microwave.

Remember to always test the temperature before feeding your little ones. We don’t recommend freezing or refrigerating and then reheating baby food that has already been heated up, as this can be unsafe for little ones.
